Classification of dinosaurs |
|
Dinosaurs evolved from the group of archosaurs, which appeared in the Permian and became the dominating land predators.
Archosaurs became divided into three groups:
- pterosaurs (the superorder of flying reptiles),
- dinosaurs (the superorder of land reptile),
- sauropterygia (the superorder of marine reptiles).
The superorder of dinosaurs includes two orders:
- reptile-pelvis dinosaurs (Saurischia)
- theropods (carnivorous dinosaurs)
- sauropods (herbivorous dinosaurs)
- bird-pelvis dinosaurs (Ornithischia)
